Latest Coupon Shopping Finds
How many of you make special trips just to coupon shop? We visited 3 stores between yesterday and today and found these great tear pad and booklet coupons:
The above coupons were found at Metro grocery store during an unplanned stop for a snack and a drink. There were lots of other tear pad coupons other than those pictured but we already had those.
There were fewer coupon available at our local Sobey's store, but it's great to find any money saving coupons to help stretch the budget further.
We were looking to find the $4 off Advil Cold & Sinus coupon at our local Shoppers Drug Mart store but was unsuccessful. However, we did find the coupons pictured above which were new to us.
If you find coupons at your local stores, please share your photos at our Facebook group Coupon Clipping in Canada.

9 Things You Can Usually Get For FREE by Using Coupons
Besides using FPC's (free product coupons) to get free products; there are a number of items that go on sale plus have a coupon floating around, so combined you can often get the products for free. This is even more likely if you have a price book and track the prices over a period of time to start seeing sale trends!
Air Fresheners: Prices vary, depending on brand and type. There are coupons from $1-$7, so these items will always be free.
Candles: Prices vary, depending on brand and type. There are coupons from $1-$5, so these items will always be free.
Deodorant: Price is usually anywhere from $1.50-$2 on sale and I always see $1 coupons on tear pads and in inserts. You can also find coupons such as $5 WUB2. You can always get Secret and Old Spice for free.
Feminine Pads/Liners/Tampons: These usually go on sale for around $2 and there are always $2 coupons floating around.
Pain Relievers: Prices vary, depending on brand and type. There are coupons from $2-$5, so these items will always be free.
Razors: Prices vary, depending on brand and type. There are coupons from $2-$5, so these items will always be free.
Shave Gel: Sale prices are usually around $1.50 – $2 and you can always find $2 coupons. You can also find coupons such as $5 WUB3.
Toothbrushes: Usually priced around $1-$2 and there's often $1-$2 coupons available. Reach is a brand you can almost always get for free.
Toothpaste: Usually priced around the $1 mark, and often there's coupons for $1 or more available. Always check the clearance section for cheap toothpaste as well!
There's ALWAYS coupons for these products and if you hold on to the coupons and wait for a sale, you will most likely get them for free (maybe even make some money if you shop at Walmart where they pay overages!). The KEY to getting these items for free is to hold on to your coupons and wait for the big sale!
Maximizing the Value of Your FPC's
| Just a few of FDR's current FPC stash! |
A lot of my couponing friends are so happy when they get a free product coupon or FPC, that they go out right away to redeem it. Whereas, I save my FPC's for the ideal time when a sale can increase the value of my coupon.
Here's some tips that my spouse and I use to get more value out of the FPC's that we are able to find!
In-Store BOGO Sales and Promotions
- Many retail stores have promotions where select products are buy 1 get 1 free. If you happen to have an FPC for the product, then you can get 2 for free.
- Use your FPC's when SDM is having a Bonus Shoppers Optimum Points Event on the Product.
- Use your Tax Free FPCs (valid mostly food items) combined with your SPC card (if you still have a student in the house or were lucky enough to win one of the VIP SPC cards at SPC's Facebook page) which gives you 10% off your total. Then the extra money you saved will be taken off your other purchases, plus use your HBC Rewards Card for extra points too!
- From time to time Loblaws Chain of Grocery Stores offers a No Tax Event where you don't pay taxes on purchases over a certain dollar value. This is an ideal time to use your FPC's and save taxes on the taxable FPC's.
- Air Miles Program at Your Participating Grocery Stores and Drugstores
- Air Miles has some great promotions on specified products. You can use your FPC's on these products and still earn Air Miles Rewards Miles.
